Now the bad news: We haven't done shit to get ready for this yet.
OK, so that's a lie. This past weekend we went up to KC and dropped probably close to $250 on baby clothes. Which sounds like a lot, but you'd be surprised how much that gets you when they're on sale for $5-9 a pop. At least it was a lot compared to what I spent for Minnie Mouse and Thing 1/Thing 2 jumpers I bought in the Orlando airport. Lots of matching pink and purple outfits, and even some Jayhawk and Royals gear as well. Hulver you better upgrade the disk capacity on these servers because you better believe I'll be uploading a lot of pictures of the girls in Jayhawk gear.
And truth be told, Jenn thinks she has found the cribs she wants to order, and we pretty much know what car seats we want as well. We have also registered at Babies R Us and Target for quite a bit of other stuff we'll be needing (but not everything yet).
But still, a lot to do. Haven't even touched the spare bedroom/babies room. Hopefully something to get started on this weekend. Sounds like we're just going to paint it, maybe stripes of some kind but probably just a top/bottom two tone thing with maybe some border paper in the middle. No big deal, but still something that takes time with a hard deadline. Perhaps if I actualize my priorities to take advantage of the long hanging fruit, or something like that.
And then there's the car issue. My car, an 8 year old Maxima with 120k+, has rather expensive air conditioning issues and brake rotors that can't seem to stay fixed properly. Jenn's car, a 5 year old Alero, has had several minor issues lately and a pretty small backseat, too small for rear facing car seats it appears. So it's new car time. Eventually we will likely get a minivan, but more immediately I have been looking seriously at small to mid-sized SUV's; think Honda CR-V/Saturn Vue on the smaller side, and Toyota Highlander/Honda Pilot on the larger side. The problem, of course, is whether it will fit two rear facing car seats, and still allow two people to sit in the front seats without eating the dash. So far just internet research, but we need to get this done sooner than later, as already Jenn is starting to really feel the effects if she has to walk/be on her feet for extended periods of time. We'll probably go buy the car seats tomorrow or this weekend, to take one along on test drives. If I can find a smaller model that will work for this comfortable I'll definitely go for that, taking into account the mileage/price issues, but from some of the things I've read, I might have to look at getting the larger model. We'll see.
And remember: You can't arrange by penis.
